Stress and FM

 

Stress...egads, we all hate that word,
and should avoid it like the plague
.

 

      The long term effects of stress is an example of the interaction of the body and mind.  The important lesson for people who have Fibromyalgia is that stress causes pain and, of course, pain causes stress, so as you can see this is a vicious cycle.

 

So how do you handle stress?

 

Stop fighting your pain/stress.  As long as you fight it, your pain will control you and the vicious cycle will continue!

 

Close your eyes and visualize the place that hurts.  Mentally send the area your love and sympathy, give it a hug, and let it rest.

 

Distract yourself...imagine a place with no pain, no problems, no kids yelling or whatever your "stress" may be. Listen to soft, relaxing music and trust it to help you to heal all emotions.

 

Invest in your stress...what makes it flare up, and try to avoid those situations.  Explore what makes it worse, and also what makes it better and then make an attempt to avoid those situations or stimuli.

 

You have my permission to...Fill your life with people who are kind to you.  You may still have to deal with those that are not, but you can do so on a superficial level.  You are not required to keep in your life anyone who is toxic to you...in other words don't let them get to you.

 

 

Most importantly:
YOU CREATE YOUR OWN EXPERIENCE!

 

You are accountable for your life.  Good or bad, successful or unsuccessful, happy or sad, fair or unfair.  YOU own your life.  By convincing yourself that you are the victim, you are guaranteed to have NO progress, no healing, and no victory.  Your flight from this will prevent you from taking the bit in your mouth and going to work on controlling YOUR life.  If in any part of your life, you are angry, hurt, or upset in any other way, then you OWN those feelings and are accountable for their presence in your life.

 

Bottom line,
you are NOT a victim.

 

The understanding and solutions lie within yourself. Remember:  There is no reality...only Perception!  Learn to take charge of your life and hold on.  This is a long ride, and YOU are the driver every single day...also remember that when you ARE stressed.....that "Stressed" is "Desserts" spelled backwards!
